With the use of the newly developed tumescent anesthesia, we offer liposuction performed under local anesthesia, which means that the patient remains awake. This new technique offers many advantages for liposuction.
First, by avoiding general anesthesia the patient avoids many of the risks of general anesthesia, such as formation of blood clots in the legs, and breathing and aspiration problems. Second, the infusion of epinephrine allows for lower blood loss. Third, recovery is quicker and the unpleasant side-effects of general anesthetics are removed. Fourth, the patient is mobile to move and stand, allowing the surgeon and patient to better evaluate the cosmetic results during the liposuction and make adjustments as necessary.
The recovery time after liposuction is approximately 1-2 weeks. Final results after liposuction will be apparent between 2-6 months.
Liposuction of the back, hips, flanks, and abdomen are offered if the patient is a good candidate. This will be determined by Dr. Nasseri after an initial complimentary consultation.
