Recently developed by Dr Avelar in Brazil, minimally invasive abdominoplasty is the newest innovative technique for abdominoplasty / tummy tuck.
With the use of the newly developed tumescent anesthesia, liposuction is first performed under local anesthesia, which means that the patient remains awake. By performing liposuction first, the fat is removed without disrupting the underlying vital blood supply. The liposuction also serves to free the skin, allowing it to be freely mobile without the need to cut deep into the tissue during the abdominoplasty. This means that complications are less likely and cosmetic outcome is improved as compared to traditional abdominoplasty.
The aim of abdominoplasty / tummy tuck is to remove excess skin over the abdomen which is due to excessive weight gain and weight loss or from pregnancy. There will be a resultant scar that extends the width of the abdomen low in the bikini line.
The recovery time after abdominoplasty is approximately 2-3 weeks. Final results after abdominoplasty will be apparent between 3-6 months.
Abdominoplasty is offered if the patient is a good candidate. This will be determined by Dr. Nasseri after an initial complimentary consultation.
