HCG diet protocol:
The HCG diet has not changed much since Dr Simeons first introduced it decades ago. The HCG diet relies on high protein and vegetable intake, combined with a modest amount of fruit consumption. The carbohydrate in this diet is purposefully very low, because the low carbohydrate metabolic state that is induced stimulates more drastic fat burning.
The hcg diet consists of a very low calorie diet of fruit, protein, and vegetables. It provides 500 calories per day, which by itself would be too little. The hcg drops are the part of the intake that allow such a limited intake of calories, and for better mobilization of stored fat.
Water intake must be high. A minimum of 2 liters of water (not including sodas, tea or coffee) must be ingested per day. Absolutely no alcohol is allowed during this hcg diet, since alcohol is a type of carbohydrate.
The hcg diet consists of 2 fruits taken between meals. The fruit choice must be an apple, an orange, 6 strawberries, or half of a grapefruit.
The hcg diet involves 2 meals, each consisting of a protein and a vegetable portion. The protein must be lean: choose from a lean cut of meat, or skinless chicken breast, or a lean fish such as sole, dover, halibut, tilapia, or swordfish. The vegetable portion must not be high in carbohydrate. Therefore, vegetables such as carrots, peas, corn, or potatoes are not allowed. Each portion consists of 3.5 ounces of the protein and 3.5 ounces of vegetable, weighed prior to cooking. They can be steamed, poached, sautéed (without oil), or grilled.
The fruit snacks and meals cannot be consumed together, and at least 2-3 hours must pass between each intake.
