There are many different weight loss programs, diets, and medications on the market currently. Some work a little, some work temporarily, and most none at all. After extensive research and medical experience, Slim Medical has adopted a version of the hCG diet protocol as its primarily recommended physician supervised weight loss program. The hCG diet plan has gained great recognition recently, providing effective and sustained weight loss. Dr. Simeons first introduced the hCG weight loss program in the 1950’s, but it did not gain acceptance until decades later. HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is a bio-identical hormone, meaning that it exists normally in the body of humans (during pregnancy). Although medical weight loss is a great starting point for health improvement and appearance, there are some patients that require surgical sculpting via liposuction or tummy tuck. We offer a new form of liposuction and tummy tuck which is performed under local anesthesia, called tumescent anesthesia. During tumescent anesthesia the patient remains awake thereby reducing many of the complication risks, allowing better mobility of the patient, and therefore resulting in better results. Liposuction and abdominoplasty performed in this way can be performed entirely in the office setting and allows quicker recovery.
Liposuction and liposculpture can be performed on the upper and lower abdomen, the flanks, thighs, hips, or back, depending on where the abnormal fat deposits lie. Depending on the laxity of skin and a patient’s desire for specific contour, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) can be performed as well as a newly developed technique termed abdominolipoplasty. A Brazilian surgeon called Dr Avelar recently developed this procedure. It is therefore sometimes called Avelar abdominoplasty (or Avelar tummy tuck). During Avelar abdominoplasty (also called abdominolipoplasty) liposuction is performed first, followed by tummy tuck which removes only the superficial skin. Since Avelar abdominoplasty uses liposuction to remove the fat, followed by removal of only superficial skin (as compared to traditional abdominoplasty which removes the fat and skin together in one deep incision), the Avelar method of abdominoplasty is less invasive. This method results in minimal disturbance of the underlying tissue, which minimizes the risks of skin necrosis, infection and bleeding, as well as allowing for quicker recovery. This is the reason it is termed minimally invasive abdominoplasty.
